Not so different…after all.

bptI am attributing my latest painting series to three things: 1) getting older  2) a touch of wisdom and 3) less tolerance for mean people.

It’s a big world out there and people don’t always do their best to get along. This can be a hard concept for a child who is taught to be kind, but sees adults not practicing what they preach. So I created these whimsical designs to show children that no matter how different we may look on the outside–living in unity and harmony is the best way to live. The subjects are some unlikely animal pairings representing friendship and acceptance.

I’m honored to be able to use a talent to help others. At some point, I hope to donate profits to like-minded organizations. Those against bullying and stereotyping as well as those that feel there is a blessing in being different, in that each of us has something unique to bring to this world.

We may not be able to change the world, but we can leave a small mark or an intention to do so. Maybe the goal shouldn’t be the world. Maybe it should just be the guy down the block or the kid across the street. That’s what I am starting with.

One t-shirt at a time.

  1. Bless you, Roberta. It’s easy to fell helpless and powerless against the anger and intolerance that seem to be taking over our culture right now. But I want to applaud you for doing what you can, with what you have, where you are. Mahatma Gandhi admonished us to “be the change you wish to see in the world,” and you are doing just that by using your skills to spread a message of love and mutual understanding. Thank you.
